HOW IT WORKS
KeyRingers are sold in pairs where the two KeyRingers in the pair are identical. You simply double-click the button on either KeyRinger to call the other. The two KeyRingers would typically be attached to two different items and you would use the KeyRinger that you haven't lost to call the one you're looking for. The KeyRinger that you are calling will beep and flash for up to fifteen seconds. Note, because the KeyRinger is so loud, it first responds at a low level so as to not startle anyone and gradually ramps up to its maximum volume.
The KeyRinger that you double-click to call the missing KeyRinger will make an audible sound that last about two seconds. That sound is a sequence of several different tones, and it is that tone sequence that the other KeyRinger is listening for. After the KeyRinger that you’re searching for hears the tone sequence coming from the KeyRinger in your hand, it begins to beep and flash. Actually, the KeyRinger that you are searching for does not care where the tone sequence that its listening for comes from. An application running on the KeyRinger website can, also, be used to call the KeyRinger. That website based application will generate the exact same tone sequence made by the KeyRinger when you double-click it. Therefore, if you are missing both KeyRingers or one is not available, you can use any web-enabled device with a speaker such as a PC, tablet or phone to call the KeyRinger.
All KeyRingers sold since 2014 are identical. For example, if you purchase two sets of KeyRingers, you will have four identical KeyRingers. When you double-click one of the KeyRingers, all of the other KeyRingers within range will respond at the same time ― not the ideal situation if you’re only looking for a particular KeyRinger. To resolve the all responding at once situation, KeyRingers can also be called individually. Using an application on the KeyRinger website, unique ID's can be assigned to each KeyRinger. After the unique ID's are assigned, each KeyRinger can be called individually from any other KeyRinger or by using an application on the KeyRinger website.

What items can I locate with the KeyRinger?
The KeyRinger can be attached to and be used to locate almost any item. Typical items include, keys, TV remote, purse, eyeglass case, walking cane, and cell phones. However, you can be creative and attach the KeyRinger to such items as an emergency flashlight or that tape measure that you’re always searching for.
How far away will a KeyRinger respond?
A KeyRinger will respond up to 300 feet away under ideal conditions. Obstructions and noise will reduce the range. In general, if you are close enough to a KeyRinger to hear it responding (beeping and flashing), it will respond when called using another KeyRinger. If a KeyRinger is lying out in the open, it will most likely respond when called from anyplace within a typical size home. If the KeyRinger is in a pocket in a closed closet or under heavy cushions, you may have to be in the same room. Regardless, a search that could take hours would be reduced to a few minutes.
Why does the KeyRinger in my hand make a sound?
The KeyRinger is constantly listening for the two-second tone sequence that is produced when the find button on another KeyRinger is double-clicked. After the misplaced KeyRinger hears the beginning of the tone sequence, the microprocessor in the KeyRinger carefully analyzes the full tone sequence. If the misplaced KeyRinger determines that it heard the tone sequence from another KeyRinger, it begins to beep and flash. If the KeyRinger determines that the sound it heard was not the tone sequence from another KeyRinger, the KeyRinger remains silent.
Is the KeyRinger XL compatible with the original KeyRinger sold until January 2013?
In January 2013, a new and much improved algorithm was introduced to detect the tones used by the KeyRinger. The new algorithm and the original algorithm are not compatible with each other. Because of the incompatibility, the KeyRinger XL and the original KeyRinger will NOT respond to each other. Note, you can call the original KeyRinger from any internet connected device by clicking on the CALL ORIGINAL KEYRINGER button.
Why do I have to double-click the KeyRinger to call the other KeyRinger?
To use the KeyRinger, you must double-click the find button. If it were only necessary to single click the find button, the KeyRinger could accidentally activate while in your pocket when you sit down, for example.
Why do I sometimes have to double-click the find button more than once before the KeyRinger responds?
Usually you only have to double-click the find button on a KeyRinger once to cause the missing KeyRinger to respond. If the KeyRinger is buried under cushions or in a pocket in a closed closet, it is sometimes necessary to double-click the find button two or three times before the missing KeyRinger responds. The missing KeyRinger is listening for the tone sequence generated by the KeyRinger that is double-clicked. The next two times the button is double-clicked, the volume of the tone sequence is increased each time to make it more likely that the missing KeyRinger will hear the tone sequence. The calling tone sequence is not at the highest volume the first time the KeyRinger is double-clicked so as to not unnecessarily disturb others.
Why does the red light on the KeyRinger flash approximately once every second?
The light can be set to constantly flicker so that the KeyRinger can be easily located, for example, when you drop it outside at night or need to quickly find it in the bottom of a purse. Sometimes the KeyRinger may accidentally go into flicker mode. To turn off the flickering, refer to FLICKERING LIGHT in the KeyRinger instructions for direction on how to disable the flickering.
How long do the batteries in the KeyRinger last?
The batteries in the KeyRinger will last approximately 18 months during normal usage.
Why does the KeyRinger sometimes beep and flash like a smoke alarm?
The KeyRinger will beep and flash like a smoke alarm to indicate that the battery is low and needs to be replaced.
Where can I purchase replacement batteries for the KeyRinger?
Each KeyRinger uses a single CR2032 lithium battery. Batteries can be purchased at most stores that sell consumer electronic products. To replace the batteries refer to BATTERIES in KeyRinger Instructions.
Why do double-sided adhesive strips come with the KeyRingers?
The double-sided foam adhesive strips are provided to attach KeyRingers to items such as your TV remote. Refer to WHERE TO USE in the KeyRinger Instructions for details on how to apply the adhesive strips.
Can I use more than two KeyRingers at one time?
Yes, you can use KeyRingers to protect as many items as you want. All KeyRingers currently being sold are identical, thus multiple sets of KeyRingers will all work with each other. (Note, in January 2013, a much improved algorithm was introduced to detect the tones used by the KeyRinger. All KeyRingers purchased before January 2013, will respond to each other, and all KeyRinges purchased after January 2014, will respond to each other. KeyRingers purchased before and after those dates will NOT respond to each other.) If there is more than one KeyRinger in the vicinity where you are searching, multiple KeyRingers may respond, complicating your search. To resolve this potential problem, unique ID's can be assigned to each KeyRinger allowing them to be called individually.
Can I buy an additional single KeyRinger?
No, we do not sell single KeyRingers at this time.
What do I do if I misplace both KeyRingers from the set?
You can go to the application on the keyringer.com website to call your KeyRingers.
Does the KeyRinger come with a warranty?
KeyRingers come with a 90-day money-back guarantee. KeyRingers also come with a free two-year warranty from date of purchase. Refer to WARRANTY in the KeyRinger Instructions for further details.
What do I do if I have questions or problems with the KeyRinger?

If you cannot resolve the problem yourself after reading the instructions, you can contact KeyRinger, LLC either by telephone at 510-339-8200 or by sending an e-mail to support@keyringer.com with your questions or description of the problem.
