KEYRINGER XL INSTRUCTIONS

ALL NEW KEYRINGERS MUST FIRST BE ACTIVATED

To activate each KeyRinger XL, double click the blue button.  After the button is double-clicked you should hear a tone sequence that last approximately two seconds. The KeyRinger is then ready to use. Simply double-click the button on either KeyRinger to call the other KeyRinger.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

DO NOT USE THE KEYRINGER, OR ALLOW IT TO BE ACTIVATED NEAR ANYONE’S EARS. THE KEYRINGER MAKES A LOUD SOUND AND IT IS LOUD ENOUGH TO BE PAINFUL IF HELD TOO CLOSE TO ONE’S EARS. IF CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO THE KEYRINGER OR MAY BE NEAR IT WHEN IT IS ACTIVATED OR IF THE KEYRINGER IS TOO LOUD, SET IT TO A LOWER VOLUME LEVEL OR RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND.

WHERE TO USE

The KeyRinger is used for locating missing objects such as keys, eyeglass cases, television remotes, purses and other commonly misplaced items. The KeyRinger is not intended to be used to locate or call other people. To protect an item, simply attach a KeyRinger to it. If the item that you are protecting has a hard flat surface, attach the KeyRinger using one of the included pieces of double-sided foam tape. Upon request, KeyRinger, LLC will mail additional pieces of double-sided foam free of charge to any postal address within the United States.

The two KeyRingers can be used to protect two different items. For example, if your keys are missing, the KeyRinger attached to the television remote can be used to locate your keys; and if the television remote is missing the KeyRinger attached to your keys can be used to locate the remote. One of the KeyRingers can also be used as a dedicated finder which you would keep it in a safe. If you need to protect more than two items, you can purchase additional sets of KeyRingers and they will all be compatible with each other.

HOW TO OPERATE THE KEYRINGER

Double-Click the blue button on either KeyRinger to call the other KeyRinger. The KeyRingers requires a double-click, just like a computer mouse, to minimize the chances of it accidentally being activated. When the KeyRinger is double-clicked, it sends out a sequence of tones that lasts about two seconds. The KeyRinger being called is constantly listening for that two-second tone sequence and when it hears it, it responds by beeping and flashing for approximately 15 seconds. If you do not find the missing KeyRinger on the first attempt, double-click the button again and walk around the area that you are searching. To stop the KeyRinger from beeping and flashing sooner than 15 seconds, press the button on the beeping KeyRinger to silence it immediately. Note, the response duration is user programable and it can be set to as short as 5 seconds and to as long as 4 minutes.

If you purchased more than two KeyRingers, you can use any KeyRinger to call all the KeyRingers simultaneously, or you can use any KeyRinger to call the different KeyRingers individually. To call all KeyRingers simultaneously, simply double-click the button on any KeyRinger and all KeyRingers within range will respond by beeping and flashing. There is no programming involved. If you want to call the KeyRingers individually, the different KeyRingers must first be assigned unique identification numbers. To assign an identification number to a KeyRinger, click on the SET DEVICE ID tab located at the top of the keyringer.com home page to go to the programming tools and detailed instructions.

It is, also, possible to call your KeyRingers (all at the same time, or individually) from a PC, tablet, or smart phone using the calling feature available on the keyringer.com website. From the keyringer.com home page, click on the CALL KEYRINGER tab to locate the calling features.

PROGRAMMING THE KEYRINGER

The KeyRingers are ready to use without the need to do any programming. However, the KeyRingers do support a number of user programmable features such as the following.

  • Setting the volume of the calling tone sequence

  • Setting the volume of the response

  • Assigning unique ID's to each KeyRinger allowing them to be called individually

  • Assigning group ID's to sets of KeyRingers allowing different set to respond to only each other

  • Setting how long a KeyRinger will respond when it is called

  • Setting how quickly the user must double-click the button decrease time to minimize accidental calls, or increase time if unable to double-click fast enough

  • Enabling and disabling the light from flickering

  • Enabling and disabling the low-battery alert

  • Resetting all the programmable features back to the factory default

The various programmable features are set using audible tone sequences generated by the keyringer.com website. Different tone sequences are recognized by the KeyRingers as different programming commands. However, before a KeyRinger can respond to a programming command, a KeyRinger must be placed into programming mode.

To put the KeyRinger into programming mode, hold the blue double-click button down until the light comes on at which time you must immediately release the button (note that you do not double-click the button and that it will be approximately three seconds before the light comes on). When you release the button immediately after the light come on, you should hear a long-short-long beep and see the light quickly flash twice. The KeyRinger is now in programming mode waiting for a command to be played through the speaker(s) on the PC, phone or tablet being used to program the KeyRinger. The KeyRinger will remain in programming mode for four minutes or until you click the blue double-click button. Click on the SET FEATURES tab to select and program the desired feature(s). Programming a KeyRinger will involve the generation a a tone sequence that will last approximately six seconds (if you do not hear the tone sequence, verify that the speakers are connected and the sound on your PC, phone or tablet is emabled). Immediately upon completion of the six-second tone sequence the KeyRinger being programmed should make a long-short-long beep and flash twice to indicate being successfully programmed. If the KeyRinger does not respond with the long-shot-long beep and the two flashes, repeat sending the command and move the KeyRinger being programmed close to just one of the speakers if your device has multiple speakers. Be sure to click the blue double-click button to exit programming mode before trying to program another KeyRinger.

CHANGING THE BATTERY

Each KeyRinger uses a single lithium coin-cell battery that will last approximately 18 months. The batteries should be replaced when the KeyRinger begins to flash and beep just like a smoke alarm with a low battery. To remove the battery door (the one inch square door on the back with the KeyRinger logo), pull back on the two locking tabs located in the corners near the key ring loop towards the rounded end of the KeyRinger. The door should pop open. If the battery door does not open when the two tabs are pulled back, insert something such as the tip of a small knife into the seam between the battery door and the case near the key ring loop to apply upward pressure on the door. Once the battery door is open, insert a small screwdriver into the notch next to the battery to pop it out. Replace the battery with a CR2032 lithium battery inserted (+) side up. When closing the battery door, set the two locking tabs into their locked position by placing the KeyRinger face down on a table and pressing down towards the table on the two locking tabs. If you have any questions, please view the following video.
